I wanted to make sure my skills didn't stay just with me. I ran an in-person workshop to teach a team of eight volunteers the fundamentals of polymer clay work, things like shaping, color blending, curing times and finishing touches. As a way of giving back to the next generation, I wanted to pass along what I'd spent years learning so others could pick up the craft for themselves. More importantly, I also shared the outline of how a project like this comes together, things like setting a goal, coordinating a production pipeline, starting a website, getting the word out, and thinking through where the project could be heading. It is very rewarding to provide an inside look at what it takes to build something like this on their own.
