For this special project, I'm creating cheerful, handmade polymer clay pins featuring animals and friendly characters for children receiving care at the Orthopedic Institute for Children. I know how scary doctor visits can be, so I wanted to make something that helps. I'm placing the pins at the reception desk so young patients can pick one out after their appointment, giving them something fun to look forward to and a little keepsake to take home. These are heartfelt gestures that hopefully bring a tiny bit of joy to families during stressful times.
Recently, the project grew beyond the pins themselves when I led a workshop at a hospital event, inviting young visitors to paint and personalize their own designs. Sharing that creative moment together made the experience even more special and brought the project to life in a new way. 350 pins were donated and 500+ visitors came to the event.
